Dr. Jadwiga Pieper-Mooney receives The Center for Latin American Studies’ Affiliated Faculty Excellence in Service Award 2021

We acknowledge the substantial contributions and service to the Center for Latin American Studies of Associate Professor Dr. Jadwiga Pieper-Mooney. This award is given for her remarkable service as Chair of the Executive Council of Latin American Studies; for leadership in outreach initiatives through scholarly conferences (Bordercrossings: Gender, Sexuality, and Rights in the Americas), urgent informational symposia in response to current events, and the Latin American Book Club; for her commitment to serve in key LAS committees, including Chair of a faculty search committee, as well as her dedication to undergraduate and graduate students; and for her unwavering enthusiasm, scholarly commitment, and support related to deepening knowledge and understanding of Latin America.

Jadwiga E. Pieper Mooney is Associate Professor in the Department of History, Chair of the Executive Council of Latin American Studies, and Affiliate Faculty of the Department of Gender and Women’s Studies. She teaches and writes about subjects of public health, medicine, gender history, feminisms, political exile, the Cold War, the global sixties, and histories of censorship in the Americas. She is currently completing a monograph titled “Women, Wombs and Medical Men in Modern Chile: Lessons from a Doctor’s Journey.”
