Bishop Ramazinni Imeri has received many awards for his courageous work on social justice issues, especially with regard for the rights of indigenous peoples. In 2005 he was awarded the Konrad Lorenz Award and in 2012 the Pacem in Terris Peace and Freedom Award. He was elected President of the Episcopal Conference of Guatemala in 2006.
