The Center for Latin American Studies at UA provided the following funding opportunities for graduate students. Keep an eye out for updates as applications become available.

Peter T. Johnson Summer Study and Research Scholarship

To support field research in Latin American and the Caribbean for honors theses by undergraduates, theses by masters degree candidates, and theses by doctoral students. If the Fund is used for dissertations, the fund should supplement grants received from other sources. The Fund can be used by any student regardless of discipline. Selection of the students and uses of the Payout shall be determined at the discretion of the Director of the Center of Latin American Studies and the Center's committee for reviewing field research proposals.

Tinker Summer Field Research Grants    

The Tinker Foundation supports travel expenses for master’s and pre-dissertation fieldwork in Latin America during Summer (May through August). Applicants who plan to complete an MA or PhD thesis will be given priority over students who plan to utilize an examination option to complete their degree. Tinker applicants must comply with UA Human Subjects requirements.

Edward J. Williams Research Scholarship

The fund provides annual summer research scholarships of $200 to $500 to undergraduate or graduate students conducting research in an area related to Williams’ academic interests: U.S.-Mexico border issues; comparative border issues relating to Mexico and Latin America; Mexican politics, public policy or contemporary Mexican history; and U.S.-Mexico relations.
