The Center for Latin American Studies was honored to award the 2011 Summer Foreign Language and Area Studies Fellowships to 12 University of Arizona Students! The Fellowships are funded by the United States Department of Education and facilitate the study of foreign languages in the field. This year 5 languages will be studies, including: Hatian Creole, Kaqchikel, Mixtec, Portuguese and Tzotzil. MA and PhD students from across disciplines were chosen to study these less commonly taught languages and utilize the skills for their research projects.
