Mia received a B.A. in Spanish & Portuguese and a B.S. with Honors in Public Health from the University of Arizona in May of 2019. She was a student worker at LAS for five years, during which she helped the day-to-day operation of the Center and worked extensively with the Brazil Studies program. During her time as an undergraduate, she interned at the UA Primary Prevention Mobile Health Unit where she helped provide free preventative health screening assessments to underserved populations in Pima County. She previously taught a women's cancer prevention course and currently volunteers at the Casa Alitas migrant shelter. In the future, Mia hopes to work with issues relating to women and migrant health and human rights. During her free time she likes to eat. Whenever she can, she visits her family in Brazil and travels to other parts of the world.
