M.A. Latin American Studies
Olivia Conklin is a Master of Arts student in the Center for Latin American Studies. She earned her B.A. in Spanish with a certificate in Latin American and Latino Studies from Central Michigan University. Her interdisciplinary research interests are primarily centered in the fields of history and women’s and gender studies. She conducts research on the history of Latin American feminisms and women's mobilization, particularly in the context of the Southern Cone right-wing dictatorships in the 1970s and 1980s. She also co-authored a recently-submitted article which examined the transnational and critical history of women’s professional soccer and gender hegemony in North America. Olivia is currently a Graduate Teaching Assistant in the Center for Latin American Studies, and has previously served as a university writing consultant and a volunteer English teacher in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
