RAICES: Help Central American Refugees in Texas

Karnes Detention Facility in San Antonion, Texas

The refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services (RAICES), a partner with the Unitarian Universalist College of Social Justice, works with undocumented women and children fleeing violence in Central America. The are look for volunteers   - to be housed in family homestays in San Antonio - to help for the summer. They are looking for two categories of skilled volunteers: Spanish speakers to interpret for lawyers and transcribe interviews, and legal volunteers to support detained clients. This is a great summer opportunity for qualified students interested in law, immigrant rights, and social justice. For more information and for an application, check out their website: http://uucsj.org/raices/.
