SUSI students from Bolivia giving a presentation at the UofA
The Study of the US Institute (SUSI) is a unique program that brings Indigenous and Afro-descendant student leaders from Latin America for a 5-week certificate program sponsored by the US State Department. Students learn about civil rights in the US, Native American tribes in Arizona, participate in leadership for peace workshops and hands-on training in sustainable technologies.
Graduate and undergraduate students from the LAS and Education departments act as peer mentors and cultural liasons for the visiting students. For more information about the program and about becoming a student mentor, click here.
