Join us on Thursday March 28 at 5:30 pm for Dr. Chávez’s Lecture on “El Disco Es Cultura: Sonic Artifacts, Racial Geographies, Latinx Chicago.” Learn more about how discos (records) broadcast in symbolic ways that amplify space in Chicago. This event is free and open to the public.

Dr. Alex E. Chávez is the Nancy O'Neill Associate Professor of Anthropology at the University of Notre Dame. His research explores articulations of Latinx sounds and aurality in relation to race, place-making, expressive culture, and the intimacies that bind lives across physical and cultural borders.
