Join us for a special screening of the film "Fruits of Labor" + Q & A with filmmaker Emily Cohen Ibañéz followed by panel discussion with organizations working on borders, food and migrant justice in our region.

Emily Cohen Ibañéz is a Latinx filmmaker based in Oakland who earned her doctorate in Anthropology (2011) at New York University. Her film work pairs lyricism with social activism, advocating for labor and environmental justice. Her award-winning feature documentary, FRUITS OF LABOR had its World Premiere at SXSW 2021 and broadcast on PBS POV | American Documentary. She also works as a video journalist producing and directing short works for The Intercept. The Guardian, Independent Lens, Argo, and TIME Studios. She is a recipient of grants and awards from JustFilms Ford Foundation, National Science Foundation, Sundance Institute, Fulbright, Perspective Fund, Firelight Media, Chicken & Egg Pictures, 4th World Media Lab, Nia Tero, California Humanities, Bay Area Video Coalition, and the Berkeley Film Foundation.
