Southwest climate gap: poverty and environmental justice in the US Southwest

Dear Friends and Colleagues,
I’m pleased to share with you a new article that may be of interest, “Southwest climate gap: poverty and environmental justice in the US Southwest,” published in the journal Local Environment: The International Journal of Justice and Sustainability, and co-written by myself, Diana Liverman, Laurel Bellante, and Tracey Osborne.  Numerous community organizations participated in the research--and many thanks to those who did so.

From a climate justice perspective, it examines how climate is experienced and embodied by low-income and marginalized communities in the US Southwest (Arizona and New Mexico)  across the health, energy, and food security spectrum.  With Ben McMahan, Dave DuBois, and Emilie Schur, I am now working on a second phase of this study, focusing on New Mexico.
