Welcome to CLAS: Graduate Assistant

The Center for Latin American Studies would like to welcome the Fall 2023 Graduate Assistant.

Omar Méndez is a first-generation School Psychology Ph.D. student at the University of Arizona, Tucson. He currently serves as the Title VI Outreach Graduate Associate, for the Centers for Latin American Studies, East Asian Studies, and Middle Eastern Studies. He is currently developing a culturally appropriate workshop on social emotional learning (SEL) and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) for local K–12 educators. He has a strong commitment to social justice, multicultural education, and culturally relevant practices.
