Dr. Monica Morales is Associate Professor of Latin American Cultural Studies in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese and affiliated faculty in Latin American Studies at the University of Arizona. She received her Ph.D. from Purdue University. Her research interests include the cultural production of the colonial period, with an emphasis on the ongoing formations of colonial power across time and space in Latin America, such as rights discourse, justice, and representation seen through postcolonial, race, gender, space, subaltern, and visual studies. She is currently working on her second manuscript about the intimate relation between justice, the movement of meaning, and politics in the contexts of Spanish and Portuguese America.
